Although there is overwhelming evidence that the New Testament is an accurate and trustworthy historical document, many people are still reluctant to believe what it says unless there is also some independent, non-biblical testimony that corroborates its statements. In the introduction to one of his books, F.F. Bruce tells about a Christian correspondent who was told by an agnostic friend that "apart from obscure references in Josephus and the like," there was no historical evidence for the life of Jesus outside the Bible .....

As someone who grew up in the 1970s reading 'the late great planet earth' when I was just old enough to read, I aquired a taste for bible prophecy. It was facinating as a very young child to think Jesus would return in my lifetime. While I still hold to this view, as well as to the truth of a pre tribulation rapture for True Christians (both are scriptural), I soon found that many bible "teachers" fluffed their books with unbiblical teachings just to sell their books - remember rat poison is only 1% poison and 99% wholesome - prophecy "experts" do have some truth, but enough lie mixed in to be dangerous. You need to be biblically literate to see the difference so you may as well read your bible and cut out the fluff.

There is no doubt that many of the soldiers responsible for the recent death and destruction in Fallujah are Christians. And there is no doubt that many Americans who call for more death and destruction in Iraq and elsewhere are Christians as well.
The phrase should be a contradiction in terms. If someone referred to Christian adulterers, Christian drug addicts, Christian prostitutes, Christian pimps, Christian gangsta rappers, or Christian acid rockers, most Christians would get an extremely perplexed look on their face..........
