Officials Call Jeanne 'Worst-Case Scenario'
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Emergency planners in Brevard County are considering ordering an evacuation for more than 150,000 people as early as Friday evening because of the approach of Hurricane Jeanne.
They are concerned the storm's deadly eye may leave no part of the coast untouched, WESH NewsChannel 2 reported.
"This is a worst-case scenario," said Emergency Operations Director Bob Lay.
A worst-case scenario because the hurricane could sweep northward along the coast, battering homes and businesses already shredded by Hurricane Frances. Emergency officials did not use the term "worst-case scenario" with hurricanes Charley, Frances or Ivan.
Residents said they've had enough.

MIAMI After causing more than 2,000 deaths in Haiti, forecasters say Hurricane Jeanne (jeen) is now a threat to Florida.
Experts at the National Hurricane Center say that steering currents are now pushing Jeanne westward, after the system meandered around for several days. They say the storm poses a threat to much of Florida's east coast this weekend.
Jeanne is now about 450 miles east of Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas, moving west at five miles-per-hour. It's packing 105 mile-per-hour winds.
