Far-right stoking civil war in Israel over Gaza, says Sharon

BEN LYNFIELD

ISRAELI prime minister Ariel Sharon yesterday warned that far-right elements could push the country into a civil war if they continue with heated rhetoric in opposition to his plan for a unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

Haaretz newspaper reported that the security establishment is concerned that extremists will either try to assassinate Mr Sharon or stage an attack at Jerusalem’s Dome of the Rock mosque in order to derail the planned withdrawal............
